The usual weekly jobless claims this morning.
At 197,000 it was below expectations but a hair above last week’s numbers.
We also got new home sales data, which absolutely blew past expectations – 684,000 versus the expected 618,000.
Let’s see how the markets have been moving.

Note: Indexes closed lower yesterday and opened lower this morning as well. However, still no change in any index directions – so far.

Don’t let a weak market talk you out of a strong setup.
When the market gets ugly, traders start treating every stock like it has the same problem.
The S&P has a bad week…
So suddenly every setup looks suspicious.
A stock can be holding support, showing strength against its sector, and doing everything you normally want to see…
And you still hesitate because the broader tape feels lousy.
That can be just as dangerous as being too aggressive.
A weak market should make you more selective.
It shouldn’t make you blind to strength when it actually shows up.
So judge the stock in front of you.
If the setup is clean, the risk is defined, and the stock is behaving better than the market around it…
Don’t reject the trade just because the index had a rough few days.
